This hide in particular is denser than other hides I sell, however still passes a needle & is porous. A couple holes & thin spots up at the neck, rest of hide is still solid buckskin. This hide would definitely be better suited for Drums being a denser hide.
Softened with a combination of plant extract lecithin & olive oil, then tanned/smoked with punk wood I harvest myself from a local forest. These hides have been frame softened so that the hide comes out nice & flat. All my hides pass the needle test, meaning that they are excellent quality for bead working, let alone for garments.
