our process
Fleshed, washed, pickled, tanned, rinsed, dried, dressed, softened & sanded. Simple, straight forward. You can learn about my process in depth with my digital PDF book (Check out the store page). Nonetheless, it is a completely natural process involving nothing other than tannins, water, vinegar, salt, soap, fats & elbow grease. A lot of it.

How do i price the cloaks?
Cloaks can be anywhere from $450 to $6,100. It all depends on the size & amount of skins required. Feel free to inquire, don’t be shy. A queen/king size is generally around $4,150-$5,200 +13% tax.
Custom orders & pre-made cloaks
First, a non-refundable 50% deposit needs to be made.
I buy skins from trappers, covering the costs myself.
I tan, cut & sew the skins into the blanket/cloak.
You transfer the rest of the funds over, officially purchasing the item.
I send it to you.
The average skins I use are Small/Medium sized skins. Bringing them to a price of $52 per skin. Sewing time is $16 Per skin, so $68 in total with 13% tax.

what is the waiting time or turn around for a cloak/blanket?
Anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months time. It depends on your place in the queue, the size, specifications of the design, how many skins are tanned, how many skins are ready, the season etc. You will be kept up to date on its progress.
can you tan my possum skins ?
I most definitely can at a rate of $18.50 per skin. It is not guaranteed that you will get back each individual skin. 1-2 might not survive the journey. The cost of the skin would in that case not be taken into consideration for the final price. A 50% deposit would be required also.
can you tan my possum skins & then sew them into a cloak?
Definitely. I would charge $18 per skin for tanning & $18 per skin I work with. So $37 per skin in total.
what is the average size of the possum skins used in the cloaks/blankets?
19 × 33 cm is the average size, that is if they are cut rectangularly. If they are cut into wedges like the traditional aboriginal cloaks commonly were in Australia, then they can be larger.
How much do queen/king size blankets cost?
If you are specifically wanting a queen sized possum blanket. It will cost anywhere from $4,600 @60 skins to $6,100 @80. A 50% deposit is required when an order begins.
can i choose what color possum furs are used?
I only make cloaks with the skins I get as I can’t be picky due to the financial & physical limitations I have on me as of now. Inquire & see what I have available, I might have Greys or Blacks available.
Can I order the skins, without you cutting & sewing them?
Of course. Skins are usually $ 59 nzd each. Or $48 for smaller skins.
so these are traditionally tanned? what does this mean?
It simply means I am using historically accurate methods to prepare the skins. I flesh, soften & sand each individual skin by hand.
